# OpenSlides

> OpenSlides is a deck studio that runs in the browser at https://openslides.dev/studio/: animated slides you can drag, code and hand to any agent. Decks, images, recordings and API keys stay in the browser; nothing is uploaded, there is no account, and it is free. Licensed MIT OR Apache-2.0.

This file describes the product site. The studio's own llms.txt — the slide dialect, the edit operations, the MCP tools and every component with its prompt template — is at https://openslides.dev/studio/llms.txt, and is the one to read before editing or generating a deck.

## Facts

- Components: 185 built in — 43 motion backgrounds, 29 kinetic type, 22 operated by the presenter, plus charts, KPIs, timelines, diagrams, maps, 3D, media and UI mockups; 33 effects and 7 transitions. Every moving thing draws from the slide's clock, so the canvas, the presenter view and a video show the same frame for the same moment.
- A new deck starts from a brief: purpose, audience, messages and notes; the outline becomes a storyboard of cards; then one of four looks, where a .pptx template or logo becomes one of the four. With no AI key the outline comes from the notes' headings and bullets.
- The agent is bring-your-own: Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, OpenRouter, or a local model in Ollama or LM Studio. The key stays in the browser and requests go straight to the provider. Each turn shows an estimate before and a receipt after; a per-deck budget asks before going over; after an edit the checks run and anything broken goes back to the agent at most twice. Frozen slides and elements are refused to it.
- Every slide is a readable `.tsx` file in a small dialect; canvas edits patch only the attribute they change.
- Presenting: a presenter view with notes, next slide and timer; presenter-operated components (sliders driving charts, spin wheels, hotspots, flip cards, quizzes, an ink layer); rehearsal records clicks and voice together.
- Voice: each slide's notes are its script — record your own voice, use a voice that runs in the browser (Piper, Kokoro), or a cloud voice with your own key. Dubbing translates the script with your agent and speaks it; the slide holds longer rather than the speech speeding up.
- Video: "Record video" in the browser (real time), or `openslides-render` for frame-exact MP4 — one per language or one with a track per language, subtitles as a sidecar or burned in, or one video per spreadsheet row.
- Sharing writes static files you host yourself: an audience copy with notes and author-only fields removed from the data, a presenter copy that is always locked, and private links encrypted in the browser with the key in the URL fragment.
- PowerPoint: import a .pptx, or only its design system; export a static .pptx (text stays editable, components become pictures, notes and transitions kept) and a PDF.
- Runs on desktop, tablet and phone browsers; on a phone the studio uses a filmstrip and a tab bar.
- Status: the MCP server (`openslides-studio`), the Claude Code plugin and the command-line tools run from the source checkout; the public repository is not open yet.
